Landspider now has five 4WD and SUV patterns on 4x4 Tyre Hub, running from a quiet highway tyre right through to a 37-inch mud-terrain. This guide explains what each pattern is built for, which sizes we carry, and how to pick the right one for the way you actually use your four-wheel drive.
If you have seen the name on a mate's ute at the boat ramp and wondered where it fits, the short version is this: Landspider is a China-built brand that has put most of its effort into the light-truck end of the market, with a WildTraxx family for off-road work and a Traxx-badged pair for touring. Below we break the range down pattern by pattern.
The Landspider 4WD range at a glance
Every pattern in the table below is listed on our store today. Rim sizes are the spread we carry, not every size the factory makes.
| Pattern | Type | Typical use | Sizes on our store |
|---|---|---|---|
| WildTraxx A/T | All-terrain | Daily driving plus gravel, sand and weekend tracks | 15 to 20 inch, metric sizes such as 265/70R17 plus 31x10.50R15 and 33x12.50R17 |
| WildTraxx R/T | Rugged-terrain (hybrid) | Heavier touring rigs and owners who want more bite than an A/T | 16 to 22 inch, including LT sizes such as LT305/60R18 and LT33x12.50R20 |
| WildTraxx M/T | Mud-terrain | Mud, clay, rock ledges and serious low-range work | 15 to 22 inch, from 245/75R16 up to 37x13.50R20 |
| GrandTraxx A/T | All-terrain (road-biased) | Mostly bitumen with the odd dirt road | 16 to 18 inch, such as 245/70R16 and 265/65R18 |
| CityTraxx H/T | Highway-terrain | SUVs and soft-roaders that stay on sealed roads | 16 to 18 inch, such as 215/70R16 and 225/60R18 |
WildTraxx A/T: the one most owners should look at first
The WildTraxx A/T is the core of the range and the pattern with the most sizes in everyday ute and wagon fitments. It is an all-terrain design, so the tread blocks are open enough to clear gravel and grip on loose surfaces, while the centre of the tread stays tight enough to keep road noise and wear in check on the highway.
That balance suits the typical Australian dual-cab: five days of commuting or work sites, then a weekend on a fire trail or a beach run. We carry it in the common ute and wagon sizes from 16 through 20 inches, plus two flotation sizes for older 15 and 17-inch rigs. A useful example is the 265/70R17, a stock size on plenty of utes, which we list in both a standard-load and a heavier light-truck version. Pick the light-truck one if you tow, run a canopy or carry a fridge, drawers and water most of the time.
WildTraxx R/T and M/T: for when the track gets serious
WildTraxx R/T
Rugged-terrain tyres sit between an all-terrain and a mud-terrain. The WildTraxx R/T uses chunkier shoulder blocks than the A/T, which are there to protect the sidewall edge from rock strikes and to give extra grip when you air down. It is aimed squarely at SUVs and light trucks, and several of our sizes carry the LT prefix, meaning they are built to light-truck load standards. If your 4WD is loaded with a rooftop tent, a long-range tank and recovery gear for most of its life, the R/T is worth a close look.
WildTraxx M/T
The WildTraxx M/T is the most aggressive pattern Landspider offers. Its big, widely spaced blocks are designed to throw mud out of the tread rather than pack it in, and its sidewall uses a three-ply construction for extra resistance to cuts and punctures from sharp rock. It has the widest spread of sizes in the range on our store, running all the way up to 35 and 37-inch flotation sizes for lifted builds. Expect more road hum and faster wear on bitumen than an A/T; that is the trade-off for this much grip off the road.
GrandTraxx A/T and CityTraxx H/T: the road-going pair
Not every four-wheel drive spends its weekends in the bush. The GrandTraxx A/T is a milder all-terrain that leans toward the road, which makes it a sensible pick for a family wagon or a ute that sees the odd gravel road to a campsite but mostly runs on bitumen. Its product pages on our store also show an EU tyre label, so you can compare its fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise ratings with other tyres before you buy.
The CityTraxx H/T is a highway-terrain tyre for SUVs and soft-roaders. It is built for quiet, even wear over long sealed kilometres rather than for traction in the dirt, and we carry it in the 16 to 18-inch sizes that suit mid-size SUVs.
How to choose the right Landspider pattern
A simple way to narrow it down is to be honest about how your time splits between sealed and unsealed roads:
- Almost all bitumen: CityTraxx H/T for an SUV, or GrandTraxx A/T if you want a little more grip on gravel.
- Mostly bitumen, regular dirt: WildTraxx A/T. It is the all-rounder of the family.
- Heavy touring and rocky tracks: WildTraxx R/T, ideally in an LT size if you carry a lot of weight.
- Mud, clay and hard-core trips: WildTraxx M/T.
Size matters as much as pattern. Start with the size printed on your current sidewall, for example by searching 265/70R17 tyres, and check the load index and speed rating match or beat what your vehicle placard asks for. If you are thinking about going up a size for a lift kit, our tyre guide covers what to check first.
Getting them fitted
When you check out, you can choose a local workshop or mobile fitter near you, or have the tyres delivered to your door. Use find a fitter to see who is close to your postcode before you order. Every price on our store includes GST, and the fitting cost is shown before you pay.
Common questions
Where are Landspider tyres made?
Landspider tyres are manufactured in China.
Is the WildTraxx R/T the same as an all-terrain?
No. It is a rugged-terrain pattern with tougher shoulder blocks, sitting between the WildTraxx A/T and the WildTraxx M/T in how aggressive it is.
Which Landspider is best for a ute that tows?
Look at the WildTraxx A/T or R/T in an LT (light-truck) size, and make sure the load index meets your placard and towing needs.
Do the mud-terrains come in big flotation sizes?
Yes. On our store the WildTraxx M/T runs up to 35-inch and 37-inch sizes on 17 to 22-inch rims.
