Terrain · M/T
Built to bite, built to self-clean.
Mud-terrain tread is aggressive, deep and widely spaced — designed to bite into mud, sand and rock and self-clean as you drive. It has the deepest, most self-clearing tread of the mainstream four, and it asks for noise, fuel and tread life in return.
Where M/T sits on the scale
Mud-TerrainDeep, widely spaced blocks that clear themselves as you drive. Noisier and thirstier with it.
The terrain scale
From bitumen to the rough stuff.
Terrain types, ordered by how much time you spend off sealed roads. The rule of thumb: the more time off-road, the further along the scale you go — and the more noise and wear you accept for the grip.
Counts are the tyres listed in each terrain type right now. Types marked “Coming soon” have nothing listed yet.
Is it right for you?
What Mud-Terrain gives you — and what it costs.
Noticeably noisier, thirstier and faster-wearing on the highway than anything further down the scale. That is the deal a mud-terrain makes.
The deepest, most self-clearing tread of the mainstream four. Widely spaced blocks bite into mud, sand and rock and clear themselves as the wheel turns.
Everything you gain off-road you pay for on it. If most of your driving is sealed, a rugged- or all-terrain will be easier to live with.
Serious off-roaders and regular low-range use — vehicles that earn their kilometres off the bitumen.

Common questions
About mud-terrain
What does M/T actually mean? +
Mud terrain. Deep, widely spaced tread blocks bite into mud, sand and rock and self-clean as you drive — the deepest, most self-clearing tread of the mainstream four.
Are mud-terrains loud on the highway? +
Yes. An M/T is noticeably noisier, thirstier and faster-wearing on sealed roads than an all-terrain. That trade is what buys the off-road grip.
Why do some sizes show "Price on request"? +
That size is listed but has no published price yet. Send the request and we will come back with a GST-inclusive quote for it.
