From bitumen to the rough stuff.

Terrain types, ordered by how much time you spend off sealed roads. The rule of thumb: the more time off-road, the further along the scale you go — and the more noise and wear you accept for the grip.

On-road manners

Closer to a highway tyre than a mud-terrain on the daily drive — quieter and longer-wearing than an M/T.

Gravel, dirt and light mud

The reason to step up from a highway tyre. A more open tread bites into loose surfaces — formed gravel, dirt tracks and light mud.

The trade-off

More road noise and slightly faster wear than a highway tyre, and nowhere near a mud-terrain in deep mud. Sitting in the middle is the whole point.

Best for

Dual-cab utes, wagons and 4WDs that commute through the week and see tracks, beaches or campsites on the weekend.

Is Mud-Terrain the better fit? Mud-terrain blocks are deeper and further apart — the deepest, most self-clearing tread of the mainstream four — at the cost of road noise, fuel and tread life. We list 177 tyres today. Compare with M/T

About all-terrain

What does A/T actually mean? +

All-terrain. The tread balances on-road comfort with grip on dirt, gravel and light mud, which makes it the most popular choice for mixed use.

Are all-terrains noisier than highway tyres? +

Usually a little, yes. A/T tread blocks are more open than a highway tyre, so expect some extra road noise and slightly faster wear — far less of both than a mud-terrain.

Why do some sizes show "Price on request"? +

That size is listed but has no published price yet. Send the request and we will come back with a GST-inclusive quote for it.
